NAVITEL releases firmware update 2.6.8 for RS990 GPS, RS985 GPS and RS984 GPS dashcams
NAVITEL has rolled out a major firmware update, version 2.6.8, for its flagship dashcam models — the NAVITEL RS990 GPS, RS984 GPS and RS985 GPS. This new firmware brings a host of enhancements and fixes that significantly improve the functionality and reliability of the devices.
What’s New in NAVITEL RS990 GPS
A highlight of firmware version 2.6.8 is the addition of voice control, allowing drivers to operate key dashcam functions using simple voice commands — a safer and more convenient option while driving. A complete list of available commands and the user guide is available on the NAVITEL website.

Additional updates include:
- Advanced HDR settings, with options for “Off,” “On,” or “HDR Only at Night,” enabling optimal video quality in various lighting conditions.
- Support for 60 frames per second recording in both 2K and Full HD resolutions, delivering smoother and more detailed video.
- Updated camera and alert database, helping drivers stay informed and react promptly to road restrictions.
- New USB port mode selection: when connected to a PC or car, users can now choose between data transfer (file access) or charging-only modes.
- Fixes for various issues, such as:
- Corrected operation of the “Summer time” setting
- Corrected functionality of the “Record Only Motion” mode
- Resolved erroneous activation of the “Turn off screen after 1 minute” option
- Fixed muting of assistant alert sounds when disabling buttons sound
- Fixed translation errors in the Polish, Czech, Slovak, and other language menus
- Resolved file-saving errors in certain scenarios
- Improved functionality of the “Memory Card Test” — test results are now saved to the memory card
- Other minor fixes to enhance overall stability and performance.
